What are Digital Recorders? |

Digital recorders are the latest recording technologies that have replaced video cassette recorders within the security industry. Instead of recording CCTV footage onto a video tape it is now recorded onto the hard drive of the digital recorder. This eliminates the need to change tapes daily and, depending on the number of cameras on the system and the size of the hard drives, the digital recorder can record images for weeks at a time before overwriting. It is also possible to view the CCTV system remotely from off-site, review recorded footage on-site, and still keep recording all at the same time.
